The welded steel pipe manufacturing process encompasses several different kinds of welding techniques along with specifications from various organizations such as the AWWA or DIN. Some of the most commonly used processes to construct a Welded Steel Pipe include the DSAW and the ERW method. The specified awwa c200 welded steel pipe, takes into consideration nominal pipe diameter that is 6 Inch and Larger.construted using an electrically butt-welded straight-seam or a spiral-seam pipe for the transmission as well as the distribution of water or for use in other water system facilities.
DIN Standard 2458 applies to the welded steel pipe dimensions and the conventional masses per unit length of these pipes, keeping in accordance with the technical conditions of delivery as stipulated in DIN. The electric resistance welded steel pipe is manufactured from either cold formed steel Strip or a Coil, which has been pulled through a series of rollers and formed into a tube. This tube is then fused through an electric charge welding process longitudinally. The outer diameter for welded steel pipe sizes can be manufactured up to 24 inches. Typically the dsaw spiral pipe is used for low pressure applications. The manufacture of a dsaw welded pipe includes the performance of both an inside weld as well as an outside weld, wherein the submerged welding process is what protects the steel from contamination by the impurities present in the air.
Welding steel tube is one pipe the surface has the steel pipe joint, which is use the steel belt or steel plate material through the bending deformation into round ,square ect then welded into shape.Which can meet customer requirements, the special specifications welded pipe can be processed according to user requirements. Welded pipes for conveying water, sewage, gas, air, heating, steam and other low-pressure fluid and other uses.

Hydrostatic inspection test pressures for plain end and threaded and coupled pipe are specified. Hydrostatic pressure shall be maintained for not less than 5 seconds for all sizes of seamless and electric-resistance-weld pipe.
Tensile Test — Transverse required on ERW for NPS 8 and large. Sending Test (Cold) — STD and XS-NPS 2 and under XXS-NPS 1 1/4 and under.
Degree of Bend | Diameter of Mandrel | |
For Normal A53 Uses | 90 | 12 x nom dia. of pipe |
For Close Coiling | 180 | 8 x nom dia. of pipe |
Flattening Test — NPS 2 and larger STD and XS. (Not required for XXS pipe.)
Steel pipes are made by two different processes. The overall production method for both processes involves three steps.First, raw steel is converted into a more workable form. Next, the pipe is formed on a continuous or semicontinuous production line. Finally, the pipe is cut and modified to meet the customer’s needs.
Ends of Pipes
For the ends of pipes are 3 standard versions available.
- Plain Ends (PE)
- Threaded Ends (TE)
- Beveled Ends (BE)
Ends are mostly be beveled to angle 30° (+ 5° / -0°) with a root face of 1.6 mm (± 0.8 mm).
Piping lengths from the factory not exactly cut to length but are normally delivered as:
- Single random length has a length of around 5-7 meter
- Double random length has a length of around 11-13 meter
- Shorter and longer lengths are available, but for a calculation, it is wise, to use this standard lengths;
- other sizes are probably more expensive.
Required Markings On Each Length
(On Tags attached to each Bundle in case of Bundled Pipe)
- Single Random — 16′ – 22′. 5% may be jointers. If Plain Ends — 5% may be 12′ – 16′.
- Double Random — Shortest Length 22′, minimum average for order 35′.
Extra Strong and Double Extra Strong
- Single Random — 12′ -22′. 5% may be 6′ – 12′.
- Double Random (XS and lighter) — Shortest Length 22′, minimum average for order 35′.
- Lengths longer than single random with wall thicknesses heavier than XS subject to negotiation.
Plus or minus 10%
Outside Diameter at any point shall not vary from standard specified more than
The minimum wall thickness at any point shall not be more than 12.5% under the nominal wall thickness specified.
