Schedule 5 Carbon Steel Pipe is a carbon steel pipe used in low pressure applications. The wall thickness compared to other higher schedule pipes is lower in this schedule. The dimensions are responsible for the Schedule 5 CS Pipe Pressure Rating. The higher the wall thickness to diameter ratio, the higher the pressure capacity would be. There are a number of grades of carbon steel in which schedule 5 pipes are available. Due to the Schedule 5 Pipe Wall Thickness being small compared to other grades, brittle grades do not have pipes in this schedule. These pipes are intended for low pressure services.
